The Midnight Library - Matt Heig

This has probably been the most difficult book to review… but not impossible!

The Midnight Library is a book that I understood on a different level and is the book that actually inspired me to create this website. Slightly corny right? But I promise, it’s true. Matt Heig introduced to us: Nora Seed, who was under the belief that her regrets made her miserable, visits the library only to discover a sense of self importance and understanding that the world isn’t perfect, but it is what you make it. Essentially, I’m trying to summarise this book on the basis of how it has helped me with my own self discovery. I understand who I am as a human being, individual, partner, daughter, employee and family member. I have also become able to distinguish how to provide self love and that may be choosing to explore paths that lead you onto the person that you want to be. But accepting that they won’t be perfect either.

If anyone is looking for a different perspective on what life is and how we can change it, then you should definitely read this. It is very easy to read and could be that book that ignites your spark or even provides an enjoyment of reading along the way.

The only other comment that I would like to add, is that at the end of the book, I believed there would be a part two. However, that is not the case (that I know of). I think it's just because it was a nice tidy round-up and I was expecting to see more ripples of the life that is Nora Seed.

Overall, I have genuinely enjoyed reading this book and all of the mini epiphanies along the way. The relationship dynamics were interesting and consistently changing. I am glad that Nora had the help of another woman in this outstanding book, and that men (as a romantic interest) did not overly play a big role. This helped to provide you with the ability to mentally separate the character's sense of individuality and ultimately, your own. If we were to be honest with ourselves, outside of the key roles that we play in loved ones lives and societies. What is left? I promise you will find it and maybe start to make websites like me! Or something else that you enjoy!
