The Text - Claire Douglas

Short but intriguing...

Even though I love to read hard copies, I must admit that this eBook on my Google Playlist is a gem. It's completely free and will keep you constantly reading to find out what's next.

In The Text, we are introduced to a young woman, who hates her boss. Quite a norm and understandable subject right? She is living with a controlling boyfriend and sometimes a judgemental friend. So as you can already tell, not living her best life. However, her world is thrown into chaos when her boss goes missing and it could all be down to a single text that she sent.

Not one for murder mysteries, I was slightly sceptical that I would continue to read but seeing as it was really short, I thought I would just see what the end brought.

I was not disappointed.

The Text kept me turning pages and wanting more even when I finished it. It was entertaining, instilled inquisitiveness, and created some real problems. I will admit that I prejudged who had done it and I was wrong, but I still felt that my dislike for the character (who I believed was responsible for the mentioned disappearance of her boss) was paid off in the end. Which can be tricky to ensure that your audience feels fulfilled. There was also little surprises in there that made you re-establish the relationships that you were originally introduced to.

Again, it was only short but if this was to get a sequel then I would definitely read it and I will be looking at more work by Claire Douglas.
